Das Theater Magdeburg sucht innovative Projekte im Bereich Neues Musiktheater. Eingereicht werden können künstlerische Konzepte von Einzelpersonen oder Teams bis zum 15. Juni 2026. Der Wettbewerb richtet sich explizit auch an Nachwuchskünstler*innen und -gruppen aller künstlerischen Sparten – aus Sachsen-Anhalt, bundesweit sowie international.
Eine Fachjury wählt aus allen Einsendungen ein Projekt aus, das mit einer Produktionsförderung in Höhe von 10.000 EUR realisiert und im Rahmen des eXoplanet-Festivals im Mai 2027 in Magdeburg präsentiert wird.
Gesucht werden performative oder installative Projekte, Interventionen oder Formate des Musiktheaters, die Geschichten erzählen und deren erzählerischer Impuls wesentlich aus der Musik heraus entsteht. Die Bandbreite möglicher Formate reicht vom Audiowalk im öffentlichen Raum bis zum experimentellen Musiktheater, von offener Stückentwicklung bis hin zur zeitgenössischen Opernüberschreibung. Die Projekte sollen außerhalb der üblichen Spielstätten des Theaters stattfinden. Besonders willkommen sind auch Arbeiten, die sich künstlerisch mit dem Stadtraum Magdeburg, seinen Menschen und Besonderheiten auseinandersetzen.
Theater Magdeburg holds a competition for innovative artistic projects in the field of new music theatre. Artistic concepts from individuals or teams may be submitted by June 15th 2026. The competition is explicitly aimed at emerging artists and groups from all artistic disciplines – from Saxony-Anhalt, across Germany, and internationally.
A jury of experts will select one project from all entries, which will receive a production grant of EUR 10,000 and will be presented as part of the eXoplanet Festival in Magdeburg in May 2027.
We are looking for performative or installation-based projects, interventions or musical theatre formats that tell stories and whose narrative impulse stems primarily from music. Possible formats can be audio walks as well as experimental music theatre, from open development to contemporary opera adaptations. The projects should take place outside the usual theatre venues. Works that engage artistically with the urban space of Magdeburg, its people and its distinctive features are particularly welcome.

Jährlich entstehen über 30 Premieren, getragen von rund 450 Mitarbeitenden. Die Spielorte des eXoplanet- Festivals sind über das gesamte Stadtgebiet verteilt.
