France, 1626: The daredevil D'Artagnan sets off for Paris to follow in his father's footsteps and become a musketeer of the royal guard. Alongside the musketeers Athos, Porthos, and Aramis, he fights against the schemes of the royal advisor Cardinal Richelieu, who, in order to strengthen his own position of power, persistently plots against the royal house. The Musketeers and D'Artagnan risk their lives to defend the Queen's honor against Richelieu and his spy, the mysterious Milady de Winter. However, when D'Artagnan falls in love with the beautiful chambermaid Constance, she faces danger as well...
Alexandre Dumas wrote his popular adventure novel in 1844 against the background of the political tensions surrounding Louis XIII, leading him to achieve cult status throughout the world. The successful musical of the Dutch producer duo Bolland/Bolland, who had previously composed for Falco and Status Quo, premiered in the Netherlands in 2003. Since then, it has thrilled audiences with rousing music ranging from rock songs to pop ballads and, of course, action-packed fencing scenes – a real family musical!
